How does your job at TMWA differ from other jobs you've had? What is different about TMWA is that the size of the organization allows everyone to know your name. The people that you’re working for and the people that you’re working with all know each other on a first name basis and everyone is more accountable for their work, which is nice.
What is unique about your job at TMWA? The fact that on a daily basis this job can be so unpredictable. Our first priority is repairing leaks, so it is imperative that our crews are able to follow their routine and repair leaks for TMWA customers, but they must be ready at a moments notice for the unexpected. We have to be very prepared and it takes great attention to detail to coordinate the schedules of twenty-four employees working on various projects while maximizing efficiency.
Do you have a favorite technology that you use at TMWA? Our system called GBA Master Series. GBA is an asset management system that we use to track water distribution assets, such as pipes, valves, meters and mains. It allows us to track projects and project locations of work that has been performed. Additionally, it ties that information to maps, which we can access from the field through our field computers in order to see what work has been performed for certain locations and view the project history. It also allows us to schedule preventative maintenance and track the work history of our facilities.
How has TMWA invested in your professional development? TMWA invested in my Distribution Operator Level IV and my Operator in Training I certifications. TMWA also allows me to achieve my continuing education units to maintain my certifications and stay current and up to date with my professional development.
What does Quality. Delivered. meant to you? It means more than just producing quality water; it also means providing quality service to our customers. We treat TMWA customers like they matter, because they do!
